What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Coordinator position at RESCUE OUTREACH MISSION?
The Kitchen Coordinator is expected to maintain appropriate inventory and supply levels, create and prepare appropriate, cost-effective menus for homeless shelter guests. The Kitchen Coordinator is further required to always ensure safe and healthy preparation of meals and sanitation techniques to avoid cross-contamination and the spoiling of food and beverages.
Responsibilities
In the role of Kitchen Coordinator, you are expected to demonstrate professionalism through excellence in knowledge, judgement and behavior. In your duties, you will consistently demonstrate our core values of respect, compassion, and dignity. You will honor the confidentiality of all guests.
- Oversee all kitchen operations ensuring healthy and safe work practices, to include volunteers and kitchen-based events.
- Order inventory and create an inventory system for kitchen supplies, ensuring sufficient stock levels.
- Be the point of contact for kitchen volunteers and work collaboratively with the direct of shelter services to ensure volunteers have the equipment they need.
- Coordinate, schedule, and train volunteer groups in the kitchen.
- Mentor and complete orientation of new kitchen volunteers.
- Assist with harvesting from garden regularly and communicate with volunteers to ensure an effective partnership.
- Provide ongoing kitchen training, knowledge transfer to any additional staff posted in the kitchen.
- Ensure the safe storage and disposal of food and beverages.
- Ensure preparation and cooking stations are stocked appropriately.
- Notify the maintenance department of any issues for kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Enforce proper sanitation and preparation practices and procedures.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to kitchen.
- Create a menu and grocery list based on menu recipe needs.
- Drive personal vehicle to various locations for donation pick-ups and grocery orders (mileage reimbursement applicable).
- Effectively communicate all inventory and supply needs to Director of Shelter Services.
Qualifications
Highschool Diploma required
ServePro and 2 Harvest Certification required during employment.
Certified in Safe Food Handling
Valid Driver License
Valid Florida Car Insurance
