What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver position at Rescue Union School District?
We're currently seeking a Bus Driver to join our team for the 24-25 school year. As a valued member of our transportation team, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students by providing safe and reliable transportation to and from school.
This Bus Driver position follows a split shift schedule from approximately 6:15 AM to 9:00 AM and 1:45 PM to 4:45 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesdays, the shifts are from 6:15 AM to 9:00 AM and 12:35 PM to 3:35 PM. This schedule is subject to be changed based on District needs.
The position requires working 5.75 hours per day for 192 days each year, with an additional three days of 8-hour shifts for in-service training. All school and holiday breaks are off, and benefits include earned holiday pay, vacation time, and sick leave accrual. Start date: TBD. Other benefits include membership in the CalPERS retirement system, optional medical insurance, and district-paid dental and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
The Bus Driver position involves transporting students on scheduled routes and special excursions while maintaining their safety and enforcing rules and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the vehicle is in a safe operating condition, keeping the assigned vehicle clean, and assisting students in boarding and unloading safely. In addition, they will attend training to maintain their skills and meet school bus certificate requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of technical procedures, driving codes, and radio procedures. They must also be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, evaluate schedules, read maps, and make common-sense decisions in critical situations. The Transportation Department prefers experienced school bus drivers but is also open to training individuals who are the right fit for the job.

- DOJ/FBI Live Scan Clearance
- TB Test Clearance
Applicant must have or be able to acquire:
- Valid Class A or B California driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsement,
- A restriction 50 school bus endorsements,
- DL 45 California Special Driver Certificate,
- DL 51A medical card,
- First aid certificates or waiver from CHP
