Job Overview:
The Data Specialist, Economic Empowerment supports IRC’s Economic Empowerment programs in nearly 30 US cities, across Europe, and on other international projects. Program areas include workforce development, financial capabilities, small business development, and food and agriculture programming. These programs maintain a strong commitment to capturing and utilizing data to understand impact and improve service delivery. This position is responsible for supporting the economic empowerment technical team in data collection, recording, gathering, quality review, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Supports field and headquarters’ (HQ) staff with recording and gathering data, ensuring all required data points are collected according to project and donor requirements.
- Participates in and delivers economic empowerment data training activities for program staff, both in groups and one-on-one.
- Assists in the updating and maintenance of data collection resources, including manuals, guides, templates, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Pulls and compiles reports from multiple data systems to support program goals and reporting requirements.
- Prepares data sets for import/export, uploads, and other transfer/consolidation processes.
- Conducts regular data quality assurance on program and project data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Collaborates with field teams to improve the accuracy and timeliness of data entry and supports the resolution of data-related issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Working Relations:
- Position reports to: Technical Advisor, Economic Empowerment (Data and Knowledge).
- Maintains close working relationships with economic empowerment technical staff, program staff in field offices, and colleagues in the Program Excellence and Research, Analysis, and Learning units.
Job Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree or relevant work experience in social sciences or another relevant field with substantial coursework in data or quantitative methods.
- Experience working with large, complex data sets, especially within social services or economic development contexts; minimum of 2 years’ experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with data collection methods, tools, and best practices.
- Experience using proprietary data systems, CRMs, and similar platforms.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with CSV and other data formats preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform data quality assurance in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to adapt communication for various audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with varied global environments and contexts.
Working Environment:
- This is a remote position to be performed in the US.
- Occasional travel or field coordination may be required to support data initiatives.
Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
