Description: The IRC in Dallas Matching Grant (MG) team provides early employment and case management services to ensure refugees achieve self-sufficiency and economic independence. The MG program is a federally funded, voluntary initiative that serves as an alternative to public cash assistance programs. MG aims to help refugees secure paid employment and achieve self-sufficiency within their first 180–280 days of arrival in the U.S. The MG intern will assist the MG Employment Supervisor and MG Coordinator with day-to-day program operations and directly support clients in both one-on-one and group settings.
Major Responsibilities:
Employment Support:
Assist clients with job search activities, including resume creation, online application completion, interview preparation, and onboarding support.
Assist with employment readiness workshops.
Provide transportation planning and interpretation support for employment-related appointments as needed.
Case Management Assistance:
Support the MG case manager in addressing client-specific needs, such as securing child care, accessing transportation, and identifying in-kind donation opportunities.
Provide gender-equitable services and advocate for women's empowerment within program delivery.
Community Engagement:
Assist with Matching Grant events and activities, including community outreach and volunteer engagement.
Facilitate referrals to ESL classes and other support services to enhance client integration.
Administrative Support:
Assist with maintaining accurate and compliant case files and documentation.
Input client progress data into IRC’s database system and assist with reporting requirements.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Hands-on experience with the implementation of a federally funded grant program.
Development of professional resumes and cover letters, aiding in the intern’s career growth.
Exposure to effective cross-cultural communication strategies and client coaching techniques.
Practical knowledge of outreach strategies and relationship building with community partners.
