Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Clinical Lab Manager to oversee daily operations of our RDI clinical laboratory in Los Angeles. This role plays a pivotal part in bridging clinical diagnostics and translational research, enabling our teams to explore and develop innovative healthcare solutions. The ideal candidate has deep experience in clinical lab management, a strong regulatory background, and thrives in a fast-paced, research-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate daily operations of a CLIA/CAP-certified clinical lab supporting RDI activities.
- Supervise lab personnel, including clinical technologists, research assistants, and technicians.
- Ensure all lab practices meet CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards for clinical diagnostics.
- Collaborate with RDI scientists and clinicians to design and execute clinical validation studies.
- Oversee quality assurance/control programs and implement continuous process improvement.
- Maintain and audit SOPs, test protocols, instrument logs, and laboratory documentation.
- Serve as the primary liaison during regulatory inspections and internal audits.
- Evaluate and implement new clinical assays, instrumentation, and laboratory technologies.
- Support sample tracking, data management, and reporting for clinical trials and research studies.
- Coordinate training and competency assessment for lab staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related field.
- Current California CLS license (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory environment, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of CLIA, CAP, FDA, and HIPAA requirements.
- Experience with molecular diagnostics, immunoassays, or next-generation sequencing is a plus.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- Background in clinical research or translational medicine environments.
- Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and EMR/EHR integration.
- Passion for innovation and a collaborative, team-driven work style.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with quality, regulatory, and clinical trial teams.
