Pay Range:
$16.80 - $23.10Pay Rate: $24.00/hour
All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months. All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time.
Position Summary:
The role of this position is to assist the protein product development team in recombinant protein expression, covering responsibilities related to cell culture, transfection, and screening procedures. Recombinant proteins play a significant role across diverse fields like biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, research, and medical applications due to their versatility. Their usage is essential for advancing science and medicine. Scalability and consistency are crucial attributes for the development of recombinant proteins. The position includes the application of diverse techniques such as PCR and cloning, mammalian cell culture, transfections, Western blotting, ELISA, and flow cytometry.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize DNA cloning methods to generate and test new clones for expression of recombinant proteins
Expression of recombinant proteins in mammalian cell lines, using established cell culture and transfection techniques
Protein expression analysis using Western Blot, ELISA, flow cytometry or other established procedures
Documenting experimental work through written and electronic means
Conducting data entry and analysis, as well as preparing reports
Sharing data in meetings with colleagues
Participation in general lab duties such as preparation of media, buffers and other reagents.
Program Requirements:
Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a graduate-level degree in a field relevant to the internship
Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program
Experience Qualifications:
Working knowledge of scientific principles
Mammalian cell culture experience
DNA cloning experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Must be able to work as part of team, including good verbal and written communication skills.
