Job Title : Coordinator of Volunteer Services Grade : 21Salary : $75,245 - $88,084The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Coordinator of Volunteer Services position. The Coordinator of Volunteer Services organizes and directs the Volunteer Services Program. This includes determining the Institute's needs for volunteers; recruiting and orienting the volunteers to the registration process and requirements; and assigning volunteers to appropriate placements based on their interests, goals and abilities and based on the needs of the Institute.The Coordinator of Volunteer Services is also responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve employee satisfaction, retention, and overall workplace culture. This role requires a deep understanding of employee needs and the ability to create programs that foster a positive and engaging work environment. This position will work closely with HR, management, and employees to identify areas for improvement and develop initiatives that promote a sense of community and belonging. This is a predominantly people-oriented position requiring frequent oral and written communications with a variety of people within both the facility and the community. They engage in discussions with program managers to obtain information regarding the volunteer needs and program requirements of the various institution units so that people with appropriate knowledge and abilities may be recruited as volunteers. The Coordinator of Volunteer Services has frequent verbal and written communications with individuals and groups outside the facility for the purpose of developing and maintaining effective relationships and to establish new relationships to promote the institution's volunteer and public relations programs. This community contact is sought out and initiated by the individual and often includes addressing large groups of people.The chosen candidate must have excellent organizational skills, excellent writing skills, and be an effective communicator and interviewer. The chosen candidate must be comfortable using technology.Duties and Responsibilities : Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Determine the facility's need for volunteers.
  • Recruit, orient, and assign volunteers to work areas according to their interests / abilities.
  • Plan, organize and direct the volunteer services program, in coordination with Institute staff.
  • Oversee the registration of each volunteer, including mandated trainings, background checks and medical documentation and authorize the issuance of ID badges.
  • Maintain database and records of each volunteer and advises them of training and medical requirements. They will also be responsible for maintaining telecommuting records for regular staff.
  • Develops, guides, and monitors implementation of a comprehensive strategy for community engagement initiatives within and on behalf of NYSPI.
  • Stimulate community interest in NYSPI and attract desirable volunteers
  • Discover a standard way to get volunteers on-boarded in terms of health clearance.
  • Establish new approaches to covering for job health risks.
  • Design and implementing programs to improve workplace morale and engagement.
  • Conduct surveys and focus groups on gathering employee feedback, organize events and activities that promote team building and collaboration, and develop programs that recognize and reward employee contributions. Develop recognition programs to reward excellence.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of employee engagement initiatives and tracking the impact of these initiatives. Monitor employee satisfaction and track progress.
  • Work closely with employees and management to ensure that employees are supported and engaged throughout their time with the organization. Focus on producing a positive employee experience and address any issues that may arise and act as a bridge between management and staff.
  • Create a positive work environment - one that fosters camaraderie, encourages collaboration, and motivates teams to reach their full potential.
  • Ensure that all staff are kept in the loop about important company news, changes, and objectives.Minimum Qualifications :
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3 years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical / administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity performing clerical / administrative work of more than moderate difficulty.Preferred Qualifications :
