Position Summary:

The Division of Oncology at UT Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Seasonal Hire Research to assist with ongoing oncology research projects. This temporary position is ideal for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in biology, medicine, public health, or a related field who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in clinical and translational oncology research.

Under close direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects

Seasonal Hires are a temporary status and therefore may not be employed for a period of more than four and ½ months. These individuals may be hired either as full-time or part-time and must be a minimum age of 16 years

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of clinical and research data.
  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings relevant to ongoing projects.
  • Support the preparation of research materials, including IRB submissions, study protocols, and participant recruitment documents.
  • Work closely with faculty, research coordinators, and fellows on assigned research tasks.
  • Contribute to the drafting of abstracts, posters, and presentations for scientific conferences.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of research activities, ensuring compliance with institutional and federal regulations.
  • Attend and participate in research meetings and training sessions as required.

Certification/Skills:

  • Basic understanding of research methodology and medical or scientific terminology.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as SPSS, R, or Excel is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively search, review, and summarize scientific literature.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and documentation.
  • Certification in Human Subjects Research (e.g., CITI training) or willingness to complete the training before starting.
  • Basic knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.

  • Individuals must be a minimum age of 16 years.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
