Position Summary: The Physical Therapist will participate in the care of primary care patients and the occupational health of Police and Firefighters. Provide direct patient care with prescribed exercises and patient education. The physical therapist is the team expert in mobility and movement and will direct the care of patients to improve their quality of life, prevent physical injury, and promote daily activities. - Develop evidence based physical therapy treatment plans for common conditions that can be standardized throughout Reserve Health as the initial plan of care.
- Use training and general knowledge of mobility, prevention, and injury recovery to partner with patients and their providers.
- Assess a person’s overall health through review of the medical records and health history. Identify and diagnose medical conditions.
- Use evidence based treatment plans with physical therapy prescriptions to develop a plan of care for each patient.
- Customize physical therapy programs to meet health care needs, athletic, and occupational performance goals.
- Reassess patients, measure and document outcomes for patient improvement and revise treatment plan as needed.
- Provide motivation, guidance, and support, and encouragement to patients, even in challenging situations.
- Utilize and delegate to exercise physiologists to assist in patient care and incorporate exercise physiology into the patient plan of care where appropriate.
- Develop outcomes measures for physical therapy to evaluate the growth and impact of the services provided for the patient population.
- Create education materials in printed and electronic format. Including but not limited to exercise and stretching resources for Police and Firefighters.
- Adhere to Reserve Health protocols and procedures, respect and promote patient rights, and help the clinic meet organizational goals.
- Support the operational aspects of the clinic in order to promote patient satisfaction.
- Follow the guidance of the Clinic Manager to maintain patient flow and ensure patients are seen timely and efficiently.
- Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol; cleaning exam/testing rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/testing rooms.
- Equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Attend periodic training sessions and meetings pertinent to position.
- Maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships with patients, clinical team, clients, and outside collaborators.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Education and Experience:
- Active North Carolina License in Physical Therapy
