Scope and General Purpose
Oversee all aspects of safety and security of the hotel by patrolling the building, parking lots, and grounds to ensure security and prevent damage to or loss of guest, employee, and company property. Meet service quality standards that affect guest satisfaction; respond to guest questions or problems in a timely, professional manner
Essential Duties
1. Complete routine rounds of property (interior and exterior) noting unusual occurrences, suspicious persons and suspicious vehicles
2. Identify unlocked doors or laundry chutes, unsafe conditions and missing or inoperative safety equipment
3. Ensure all public spaces are locked after hours of operation to prevent unauthorized use (swimming pools, conference rooms, fitness center, restaurants, etc.)
4. Ensure policies and procedures of the hotel and brand are enforced
5. Confront guests and employees involved in unsafe/illegal acts
6. Investigate/handle complaints, incidences, accidents and emergencies
7. Complete incident report form for all incidents during scheduled shifts
8. Report any safety of liability related conditions to management
9. Provide security for guests, employees and property by adhering to security procedures for guest room keys and master keys
10.Maintain a full understanding of all hotel emergency procedures
11.Report any suspicious activity to management
12.Complete checklists, forms, logs and reports accurately and on time
13.Perform duties of Guest Services, Engineering and Housekeeping
14.Be alert to hazards and responsible in carrying out hotel’s safety, security and emergency procedures
15.Suggests ways to improve safety conditions that reduce or prevent accidents and injuries
16.Participate on safety committee or other special projects for safety
17.Actively seek and report potential security risks or hazardous conditions
18.Handle emergency situations effectively and professionally
19.Ability to remain calm in a crisis\s
20.Attend all mandatory meetings
21.Abide by all Hawkeye Hotels policies and guidelines as outlined in the Hawkeye Hotels Employee Handbook.
22.Performs all other duties assigned

Security Officer
Education and/or Experience
o Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position
o Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
o Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
o Surveillance skills and detail orientation
o Integrity and professionalism
o High School degree or equivalent
o CPR Certification

o Must be able to read, write and understand the English language, write concise reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar; speak with poise, voice control and confidence using correct English and pleasant voice tone.

Requires occasional sitting in a backed chair writing reports and conducting interviews, constantly standing/walking
patrolling grounds and hotel on asphalt, cement, carpet and gravel. Climbing stairs, regularly checking stairwells.
Occasional lifting and/or moving light objects weighing up to 50 lbs. may be possible. Occasionally lift and/or move medium objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
Computer Skills The employee must have the ability to learn and be proficient in the basic operations of computers.
