The Residence Inn by Marriott Columbia is seeking a Part-Time Weekend Night Auditor to join our team.
POSITION FOCUS
The Night Auditor performs the duties of a Front Desk Agent and completes, balances and files night audit reports on the various areas of the hotel to provide accurate, timely information in accordance with cash handling, credit card processing and accounting policies and procedures. Promptly reports emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, engineering items and safety hazards to management. Reports any deviations from policies, procedures, brand standards and regulations to management.
Complies with all guest service basics such as uniforms, name tags and proper guest greeting. Knowledgeable on hotel facilities and services to assist guests as appropriate. Ensures all communication containing Company, hotel, brand and guest information is consistent with privacy policies, practices and regulations. Impresses guests with quality and timely service in a pleasant and friendly manner.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
- Audit, balance, post and report on room charges including phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures to ensure accuracy and proper cash handling and credit procedures are followed.
- Complete, balance and file night audit reports including over/short figures, deposits, counts, house charges, and promotional materials.
- Timely compile facts/figures, identify and investigate variances and resolve basic issues. Notify management of any unresolved variances.
- Ability to take direction and work independently.
- Prepare daily Night Audit pack, either physically or digitally and file appropriately.
- Perform the duties of a Front Desk Agent.
- Use suggestive selling skills and Company and Brand sales programs to maximize revenue and occupancy levels.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to Company and Brand standards, thank guests with genuine appreciation.
- Anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities.
- Have local area knowledge to answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
- Answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
- Arrive on time for scheduled shift and in proper uniform.
- Attend department meetings as scheduled.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information to protect Company assets and to protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support team to reach common goals.
- Comply with Company policies and procedures. Practice safe work habits and comply with sanitary, safety, security and emergency procedures. Write shift reports including reports on any incidents of theft, accidents or injuries.
- Comply with Quality Assurance expectations and Brand standards.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as requested.
- Any other tasks/duties as requested by management which the associate is reasonably able to perform.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Weekend availability is required.
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- Hotel Front Desk, Night Audit and/or accounting background and familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred.
- Ability to follow an appropriate course of action based on policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, phone and other office equipment.
- Attention to details with good organizational and efficient time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible and efficient.
- Ability to satisfy the legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction.
- Work is normally performed in an interior hotel environment.
- While performing job duties, the associate speaks, listens, completes documents, processes requests, and operates office equipment such as a telephone, calculator, computer, copier and fax.
- Physical requirements include extended periods of standing and/or walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses.
