What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Maintenance Technician position at Residence Inn/Courtyard?
As the Senior Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for maintaining the hotel in good repair, inclusive of guest rooms, public space, back of the house, and exterior. You will perform various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning (trouble shoot repair / replace units / systems and related equipment), painting, drywall repair to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel. You will assist with periodical preventative maintenance of the property to maintain the condition and appearance of the hotel. The maintenance technician is expected to aid in all maintenance related tasks and respond quickly and appropriately to guest requests and / or special needs.
Training is available in all areas of this position.
Responsibilities
Maintain guestrooms, public space, and back of the house areas
Repair or replace items such as light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, air conditioners, TVs, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting, or other miscellaneous items
Assist the Chief Engineer and other department team members in the systematic application of the preventative maintenance program
Make record of repairs made, establish a plan of action to complete needed repairs / tasks, or areas needing further attention
Assist in inventory of supplies needed to perform job function
Report major repairs and items that cannot be repaired to the Chief Engineer or GM for further action and, if necessary, place a room out of order
Due to the nature of the business, the individual will be required to assist in special projects as assigned by the Chief Engineer
Spot checking of guest and public areas to ensure standards are maintained
Ensure strong communications between all departments
Maintain a well organized and clean shop and associated engineering related areas
Ensure all work areas are check-in ready upon completion of any repairs
Requirements
Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry, training is available in all trade areas
Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment
Working knowledge of basic hand and power tools
Professional, polished appearance, self-directed, and must take initiative to complete tasks consistently when needed
Background, drug screening
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service personality and positive attitude
Ability to work in an environment that requires multi-tasking
Must possess the ability to make sound decisions that are in the best interests / safety of property, guests,
and associates.
