Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent professional music therapy in accordance with company protocols and accepted certification practices.
- Effectively inform and educate our patients, staff, and facility partners about music therapy.
- Establish therapy objectives as part of the patient assessment.
- Plan, review, and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid in the planning of subsequent sessions.
- Take an active role in sessions by playing instruments, singing, and listening.
- Encourage patients to take part in the session and support them by responding musically and improvising with music as a reaction to what the client is communicating to give comfort during the last stages of life.
- Support the patient's creative development and facilitate positive changes in their behavior and well-being.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Music Therapy degree.
- Current Board certified (MT-BC) credential according to U.S. Certification Board for Music Therapists.
- State music therapy licensing where required.
- At least six (6) months of work/education experience with geriatric healthcare.
- At least six (6) months of work/education experience with end-of-life/terminal illness healthcare.
