This role involves:
- Providing music therapy sessions consistent with company protocols and certification standards
- Communicating the value of music therapy to patients, staff, and facility partners
- Establishing therapy objectives during patient assessments
- Planning, reviewing, and assessing therapy sessions to ensure effectiveness and inform subsequent sessions
- Actively engaging in sessions by playing instruments, singing, and listening
- Encouraging patients to participate and respond musically to their needs, providing comfort during end-of-life stages
- Fostering creative development and facilitating positive changes in behavior and well-being
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor of Music Therapy degree
- Board certified (MT-BC) credential according to U.S. Certification Board for Music Therapists, preferred
- State music therapy licensing, preferred
- At least six months of work/education experience with geriatric healthcare
- At least six months of work/education experience with end-of-life/terminal illness healthcare
