Job Description:
Residents Medical Group is seeking a highly qualified, Spanish-speaking Full-Spectrum Doula Trainer to lead a 32-hour in-person training for up to 20 participants as part of an LA County Department of Public Health initiative. The training will take place at a designated facility within the LA County jail system and is part of a broader effort to expand culturally relevant, community-rooted doula care in Southern California.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one full-spectrum doula training session (minimum of 32 hours in-person) to a cohort of up to 20 participants.
- Facilitate training grounded in a reproductive justice framework, with cultural relevance for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities.
- Collaborate with DPH staff in at least two pre-training meetings to plan cohort logistics, timeline, outreach, and evaluation strategies.
- Submit draft lesson plan or training agenda to DPH within one week of purchase order receipt.
- Promote training through web, flyers, and social media (draft flyer must be submitted one month before training date).
- Ensure curriculum covers required topics, including:
- Full-spectrum doula foundations
- Pregnancy complications and outcomes
- Lactation and infant feeding
- California’s Medi-Cal doula benefit
- Comfort measures, birth physiology
- System-impacted community support (including incarcerated and justice-impacted populations)
- Postpartum care, adoption, miscarriage, and abortion support
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of paid experience facilitating doula training in Spanish
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise via resume or bio
- Prior experience conducting in-person doula trainings for BIPOC communities
- Proven curriculum that integrates reproductive justice principles
- Partnership with a Southern California-based doula or perinatal support group (letter of support required)
Deliverables Include:
- One in-person training cohort (32 hours total) completed by August 30, 2025
- Active collaboration with DPH on scheduling, cohort development, and promotional outreach
- Submission of a finalized curriculum and training materials
- Participation in pre-training strategy and evaluation planning sessions with DPH
- Training promotion through community channels and online platforms
