Principal Engineer, Data and AI Platform Engineering

Our mission is to empower ResMed to solve complex problems through secure, scalable, and reliable Data, Analytics and AI/ML solutions. As a Principal Data and AI/ML Platform Engineer, you will architect and lead data technology initiatives across ResMed's Data and AI Platform organization. You'll develop strategies for AI/ML, data platforms, services, governance, and analytics while ensuring alignment with business goals. This role combines technical expertise with leadership to drive innovation on our platform serving the ResMed Data community. Working with cutting-edge technologies, you'll collaborate across teams to shape architectural design and develop technical talent.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities

• Lead the technical evolution of data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML capabilities, ensuring incremental solution delivery and proactive risk management
• Develop deep technical expertise across data domains to guide cross-team initiatives and optimize productivity
• Set and maintain high standards for data quality, platform reliability, and security while addressing scalability challenges
• Drive strategic technical decisions that balance business needs with long-term sustainability across data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML initiatives
• Mentor and coach data engineering teams, collaborate with engineering leadership, and provide actionable feedback for team growth
• Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all management levels
• Provide thought leadership in data architecture, governance, and technology selection to shape company-wide technical direction
  
  
  

Qualifications And Experience

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 10 years architecting AI/ML and Data Platform solutions
• Experience building and scaling ML platforms for model training, deployment, and monitoring using large datasets
• Expertise in modern technology stacks, APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms
• Deep platform thinking with proven experience in large-scale data processing systems (batch and streaming) using AWS, Snowflake, Kafka, SQL, dbt
• Strong track record implementing Data Governance practices
• Excellent communication skills with ability to present to all levels of leadership
• Demonstrated agile mindset focused on iterative improvement
