Purchasing / Materials Manager Job Description
Resodyn Corporation is seeking a Purchasing / Materials Manager to be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of vendor sourcing and qualification, as well as searching for reliable suppliers with improved costing structure. The responsibility for purchased items will also include oversight of receiving, inventory stocking, kitting and delivery to the shop floor.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
- Assess, manage and mitigate risks
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
- Track and follow up on procurements to ensure promised delivery dates are maintained
- Manage receiving, inventory and kitting operations
- Manage buyers and inventory specialists
Position Requirements
- Proven working experience as purchasing manager, agent or officer
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
- Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
- A knack for negotiation and networking
- Working experience of vendor management software
- Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
- Solid judgement along with decision making skills
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Strong Computer Skills
- Familiarity and/or experience with ERP systems as a management tool
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Enthusiasm for working in a diverse, demanding, and exciting technology environment
- Strong work ethic and team player attributes
- BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration, or equivalent
- 10 years minimum of directly applicable experience.
The purchasing manager shall evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, review product quality, and supervise purchasing agents, buyers and inventory specialists. The purchasing manager shall have responsibility for purchasing equipment, parts and services.
