We are seeking several highly motivated Second and Third Mates that are interested in accelerating their career to the next level. If you have what it takes, Resolve Marine would like to hear from you. We are looking for candidates that have operational experience in towing conditions along US Coastal Waters, Gulf of Mexico, and Alaska on a variety of vessels with a minimum of 1-year experience as Mate.To be successful in this position the candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude who takes pride in their work. They will demonstrate the ability to cooperate and communicate well with coworkers, supervisors, and subordinates. They will step up as a leader but be willing to ask for support when needed. They will be reliable and able to see a task through to completion, demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills. They will follow all safety protocols and adhere to regulations and company policies.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, including, but not limited to:
- Stand bridge watches to the requirements of the master’s Standing Orders, the Safety Management System and the STCW and the Collision Regulations
- Keep the ship’s navigational outfit including charts and nautical publications fully corrected
- Safe navigation and piloting
- Bridge administration/paperwork
- Assist with the ship’s safety routines and the senior officers as required
- Protection of the environment, cargo or property
- Onboard maintenance jobs
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must have MMC with USCG endorsement of minimum Third Mate of Motor propelled vessels unlimited, upon Oceans with Towing endorsement
- Must have a current USCG License for Third Mate with required STCW endorsements
- Valid USCG STCW and National medicals
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current passport (for foreign voyages)
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a Mate
- Well versed with USCG/ABS/ISM/ISPS regulatory requirements as applicable to ocean-going tugs
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be a team player & leader with a positive attitude who takes pride in their work
- Has demonstrated the ability to cooperate and communicate well with coworkers, supervisors, and subordinates
- Has strong attention to detail and is always performance and results driven to maintain vessels in full readiness for any emergency response requirement
- Be reliable and demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills
- Must follow all safety protocols and adhere to regulations and company policies
Supervisory Requirements:
- Performs necessary routine maintenance, repairs, and handles ship’s business under the direction of the Chief Mate.
- Prepares for trip, load cargo and ship’s shores.
- Stands watch while vessel is underway as required to reach destination safely and expeditiously.
- Applicants to meet the physical demands while performing the tasks required for transferring rigging, laying rigging, handling lines, moving and operating portable pumps, routine housekeeping duties, general maintenance, and assisting in the navigation of the boat. These duties will be performed during all types of weather, night and day, and while the vessel is underway.
- Incumbents are required to use hand tools, power tools, painting equipment, and personal protective gear.

Travel Requirements:
- Up to _50_% travel is required. If additional, travel is required beyond the specified amount, based on the operational demand, you will be notified accordingly so arrangements can be made.
