Key Responsibilities:
Specimen Collection & Management: Check (EMR) weekly to obtain the daily list of required labs for every patient. Provide patients with lab materials and collect all necessary specimen samples.
Organize & Log Specimens: Match test orders with specimen labeling. Sort, check, and log specimens while ensuring accuracy. Prepare reports for delivery.
Maintain Cleanliness: Keep work surfaces clean and orderly, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a sterile environment at all times.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, handling and processing lab specimens.
Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and ensure proper specimen labeling.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients and team members.
Technical Proficiency: Computer skills in Word, Excel, EMR, and related software.
Physical Demands:
Visual and auditory acuity for using medical equipment and communicating with patients.
Manual dexterity to perform tasks such as fine manipulation, simple grasping, and other hand movements.
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs, and perform other physical tasks such as bending, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions:
Environment: Work is conducted in a temperature-controlled laboratory setting. You may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens, communicable diseases, chemicals, and sharp objects.
Safety Equipment: Personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, gowns, and eyewear, is provided for your safety.
