Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to join our Shreveport, Louisiana (alternatively within 30 miles) healthcare team . The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in wound care management and demonstrate expertise in assessing and treating various types of wounds. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care, particularly for individuals in senior care settings. The Wound Care Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and facilitate effective discharge planning.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with wounds, including history taking and physical examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans based on best practices and clinical guidelines.
- Perform wound debridement, dressing changes, and other necessary procedures to promote healing.
- Utilize medical terminology and ICD-9 coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care management, prevention strategies, and discharge planning.
- Collect specimens for laboratory analysis and process them appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records in electronic health record systems such as eClinicalWorks.
- Stay updated on advancements in wound care techniques and participate in continuous professional development.
Qualifications
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with specialization in wound care or related field.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy related to wound healing processes.
- Experience in phlebotomizing and specimen collection processing is preferred.
- Familiarity with acute care settings and senior care practices is advantageous.
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding systems.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in documentation.
