Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of animals in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess skills in handling various breeds and sizes of pets. You will work closely with our veterinary staff and ensure that all animals receive the attention they need while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
- Maintain cleanliness in kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments as needed.
- Engage with pet owners, providing excellent customer service and updates on their pets’ well-being.
- Support dog training sessions as directed by trainers or veterinary staff.
- Handle heavy lifting when moving supplies or assisting with larger animals.
- Follow all safety protocols to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal care or handling is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of pet grooming techniques is a plus.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior and restraint methods.
- Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with pet owners.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for the role.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends if necessary.
