Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure efficient patient flow by rooming patients in a timely manner and assisting the provider with staying timely on their schedule
- Respond to patient questions in a timely manner by phone, EMR messaging
- Ensure EMR reflects source of patient medications prior to visit & troubleshoot concerns
- Deliver an exceptional patient experience and help patients prepare for their visit
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, chief complaints, and review systems
- Deliver patient screenings per protocols
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by NP or MD
- Perform clinic front desk duties, including but not limited to, answering incoming telephone calls, obtaining and/or verifying patient information, patient check in/out, coordinate, and facilitate accurate patient appointment
- Assist during medical examinations and with patient referrals and prior authorizations
- Maintain inventory of medicines and medical supplies as necessary
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, safe, and ready for patient visits
- Prepare patient charts in electronic medical record prior to visit
- Maintain notes in electronic health record of patient conversations
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and HIPAA compliance at all times
- Assist in getting patients on THMP, and various assistance programs
- Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens as needed
- Maintain daily records of vaccine temperature logs and report out as required
- Follow rules and regulations of all federal, state, local and accrediting bodies
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Certification from a medical assistant program or military medical corpsman program
- Experience in healthcare/medical office/setting preferred
- Prior experience in HIV healthcare and Ryan White services preferred
- Proficient in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office
- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures and regulatory requirements
- Self-motivated team player who can organize and multitask with high quality client focused customer service skills in addition to accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology
- Knowledge of key medications for treatment and prevention of STIs including HIV
- Maintain current immunizations against infectious diseases
- Experience working with an electronic health record within the last 12 months
- Available to work Saturdays as needed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work calmly and effectively with people in stressful situations
