Assistant Project Manager Job Description – Resource Lighting & Energy


Our Project Managers are directly responsible for key client projects. Project management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. Oversee all aspects of projects, set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize progress of project. Prepare reports for upper management regarding status of project.


The successful candidate will work directly with clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with subcontractors, manufacturers, and product rep agencies to ensure all aspects of each project are designed to the needs of the space and customer.


This position requires a bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience in the electrical or mechanical engineering field. Prior electrical contracting experience is a plus. Candidate must be familiar with a variety of the construction industries’ contractor best practices and procedures.  Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Perform a variety of project closeout and documentation tasks. Lead and direct the work of others, including subcontractors. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected and encouraged.


This role enables the Project Manager autonomy in the design and selection of product for both mechanical and lighting projects. Project Manager will have exposure to multiple facets of the industry including manufacturers, engineers form different industries as well as electrical and mechanical contractors. This role will report directly to the Director of Project Management and carries the ability for future promotion within our Project Management/Engineering department. The Project Manager will enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.


Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition and design of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure product availability and delivery to Job Sites
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to Director as needed
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency

o Travel to different manufacturer locations and trade shows around U.S. to evaluate new and exciting

product for project designs

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  •  Meet onsite with Facility Managers for lighting and mechanical audits and clarify specific requirements of each project
  •  Design project to address specific client needs in-regard-to energy savings
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  •  Meet budgetary objectives and adjust to project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop comprehensive project close-out documentation for customers
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  •  Program Lighting and other various building systems (after proper training)
  •  Develop spreadsheets, utilize auto-cad and provide utility documentation for all Projects as needed
  • Use and become proficient with Resource Lighting & Energy audit spreadsheet 

 

Requirements:
  •  Proven working experience in project management
  •  Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  •  Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office – specifically Excel
  •  Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  •  Reliable Transportation and Driver’s license
Compensation:
  • $50,000-$70,000 depending on experience
  •  This is an Entry Level Position
