RMC is hiring a Senior Network Security Engineer to support our customer at Crane Naval Base in Indiana. The selected applicant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure networks within a fast-paced DoD environment.
The selected applicant will be responsible for:
- Network Monitoring: Continuously monitor network traffic and systems to detect, analyze, and respond to potential security incidents in real time.
- Threat Identification and Analysis: Investigate potential threats, security breaches, and vulnerabilities in the network infrastructure using tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and other security systems.
- Incident Response: Lead and participate in the incident response process, including identifying the cause, mitigating damage, and ensuring a full recovery from security incidents.
- Vulnerability Management: Regularly conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify network weaknesses and recommend effective solutions.
- Security Architecture: Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure network infrastructures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate and assess risks to network security and help prioritize remediation efforts based on impact and urgency.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive security documentation, including security logs, incident reports, and risk assessments. Provide regular updates to management on security status.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, departments, and external vendors to ensure network security best practices are followed and that incidents are resolved in a timely manner.
- Security Policy Development: Assist in the development, review, and enforcement of network security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) is preferred.
- Proven experience (5 years) as a Network Security Analyst or in a similar cybersecurity role.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.), firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
- Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM systems, anti-virus software, vulnerability scanning tools, and network analyzers.
- Experience with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with cloud security in AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools for security tasks (Python, Bash, etc.).
- Knowledge of advanced threat detection and mitigation techniques.
- Splunk experience a plus.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- A DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 (Security CE or equivalent) is required.
- Azure Cybersecurity Architect Expert Certification is preferred.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Security, Professional (JNCIP-SEC) Certification is preferred.
REQUIRED CLEARANCE:
- A DoD INTERIM SECRET security clearance is required to start.

Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate's specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $86,000 annually.
