Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Substation Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical substation equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of high-voltage electrical systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protection systems. This position requires hands-on experience with electrical maintenance and a thorough understanding of safety protocols in high-voltage environments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Installation & Setup :
- Install new electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switches, and control systems.
- Assist with the setup and commissioning of newly constructed or upgraded substations.
- Inspection & Maintenance :
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and protection relays.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and calibrating equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor electrical systems for any signs of malfunction or degradation and perform diagnostic tests.
- Repairs & Troubleshooting :
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and components to diagnose faults or failures.
- Repair or replace damaged or faulty equipment, including high-voltage systems and control circuits.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and safely.
- Safety Compliance :
- Adhere to strict safety procedures and protocols when working with high-voltage equipment and during all on-site activities.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all company safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Emergency Response :
- Respond to emergency situations, such as outages or equipment failures, to restore service in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with other team members and departments to troubleshoot and resolve urgent issues.
- Documentation & Reporting :
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment performance.
- Document test results and recommend corrective actions for any issues identified during maintenance.
- Assist in preparing reports for regulatory compliance and safety audits.
- Continuous Improvement :
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay updated on new technologies and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the development of maintenance schedules and improve operational efficiency.
