Job Description:
- Installation and wiring repair on electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment by performing the following duties.
- Performs supervised new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
- Follows “as built” sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams blueprints.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit; effectively operates/maintains hand conduit benders and pipe threaders.
- Pulls wiring through conduit without damaging or chafing wires.
- Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Connects wiring to basic electrical components such as lighting fixtures and heaters.
- Performs simple installation of apparatus such as switches, receptacles, and circuit-breaker panels.
- Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
- Learns how to test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as multimeters.
