Candidates must be graduates of a sonography program, must have one of these registries (RCS, RCCS, RDCS, or RDCS PE), and have either experience or training in Pediatric scans specifically (No new grads or candidates that have not scanned Peds).
Our client, a distinguished healthcare organization, is currently seeking a dedicated Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer. This vital role involves conducting diagnostic echocardiographic evaluations on pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart conditions, and working closely with pediatric cardiologists and the healthcare team to deliver precise and high-quality imaging services.
Job Requirements:
- Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology from an accredited program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered
Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) is required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in pediatric echocardiography, ideally within a
pediatric cardiology department.
- Expertise in a comprehensive array of pediatric echocardiographic procedures including transthoracic, transesophageal, and fetal echocardiography.
- In-depth understanding of pediatric cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children and their families.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continual professional development and education.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed pediatric echocardiograms using advanced ultrasound technology.
- Gather patient history and clinical information to aid in echocardiographic interpretation.
- Work in conjunction with pediatric cardiologists to refine imaging protocols and ensure diagnostic precision.
- Maintain meticulous patient records and adhere to departmental and regulatory
standards.
- Prepare and position patients for procedures, prioritizing their safety and comfort.
- Monitor patient responses during exams, addressing any complications immediately.
- Engage in quality control measures such as equipment maintenance and image quality checks.
- Educate patients and their families about the echocardiographic processes and findings when necessary.
