Facilities Electrical Engineer
ResourceTek is the Human Capital division of Barge Design Solutions, a multi-discipline Engineering firm. We specialize in providing technical recruitment and staffing services to industry and government in all areas of Engineering, Information Technology, and a broad range of other technical disciplines.
In support of our client, a leader in automotive OEM, we are seeking an experienced Facilities Electrical Engineer located in Smyrna, TN. The right candidate will be responsible for various assigned projects concerning development, design, construction, and/or installation of electrical systems at Client facilities. This is a long-term, contract-to-hire opportunity.
Job Duties
Coordinate electrical design and construction of buildings and facilities.
Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine the simplest, most efficient and cost-effective approach to solving engineering tasks.
Develop specification, scope of work, and bid documents for electrical projects.
Assist Purchasing with bidder lists and bid reviews by providing relevant, consolidated data to support the decision-making process.
Review, check and inspect vendor designs and electrical plans to ensure adherence quality standards. (50%)
Perform necessary fieldwork to gather field data, check tie-ins and provide construction support.
Responsible for coordinating contractor onsite work and providing clear direction regarding Client requirements and standards as it pertains to facility infrastructure projects.
Ensure documentation and CAD standards are followed by contractors.
Coordinate with public utility providers to provide clear direction related to utility infrastructure projects Develop and track project schedules and costs. (30%)
Develop and maintain procedures for all existing building and grounds in collaboration with the Facilities department.
Perform lifecycle analysis and develop long-term plans accordingly.
Provide environmental support to the Facilities department as required to maintain benchmark status.
Lead and control budgets for electrical engineering planning.
Coordinate and interface between local Client and German Client Production Planning.
Ensure integration of corporate standards and best practices form Germany into local Client processes and practices.
Marginal Functions: Perform other duties as required. (20%)
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related area, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in the following area(s): Engineering function in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Solid understanding of industrial power system protection, control and power monitoring.
Working knowledge of national electrical code (NEC) and standard for electrical safety in the workplace (NFPA 70E).
Solid understanding of commercial and industrial lighting systems.
Solid understanding of facility scope development and costing
Working knowledge of MS Office.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Intermediate facilitation and project management skills.
Preferred Skills
Master's degree.
PE License.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar project scheduling program.
German language skills.
