In partnership with our client, a global leader in metals manufacturing, we are seeking an experienced Global Procurement Manager located in the Reading, PA area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing the procurement strategy for Capital Equipment, Construction, and Engineering Services categories for large-scale capital projects. This is a direct hire opportunity.
POSITION SUMMARY
This pivotal role will manage strategic procurement activities across multiple projects, drive operational efficiency, and ensure alignment with global sourcing strategies. The ideal candidate will be process-oriented with a growth mindset, demonstrating a proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives and generating value throughout the procurement lifecycle. As a senior leader, you will manage complex procurement projects, mitigate supply chain risks, lead change management initiatives, and build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and global suppliers. This role requires a strategic thinker with expertise in complex negotiations, cost-saving initiatives, and supplier management in a dynamic industrial environment.
JOB DUTIES
- Lead the global procurement strategy for Capital Equipment, Construction, and Engineering Services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement global sourcing strategies that optimize cost efficiency, quality, and service levels.
- Manage supplier performance, ensuring adherence to contract terms, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain long-term, sustainable relationships with key suppliers.
- Lead high-value, complex contract negotiations for the Capital Equipment, Construction, and Engineering Services categories, ensuring favorable terms for the organization.
- Develop long-term agreements with suppliers to ensure pricing stability and continuity of supply.
- Continuously evaluate and renegotiate contracts to maximize total value, focusing on risk minimization and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand technical specifications, define performance criteria, and align procurement strategies with operational requirements.
- Partner with legal, finance, and compliance teams to ensure procurement practices are aligned with ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
- Support project teams to ensure financial targets, quality standards, and project timelines are met.
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards and reporting tools to track key procurement metrics (e.g., cost savings, supplier performance).
- Analyze market trends, benchmark costing models, and mitigate cost fluctuations to inform procurement strategy.
- Present procurement insights, market conditions, and performance reports to senior leadership
- Ensure efficient and effective global supply chains for the Capital Equipment, Construction, and Engineering Services categories, maintaining balance between supply and demand while managing lead times to meet project deliverables.
- Continuously evaluate the global supply market for emerging suppliers, new technologies, and opportunities for cost savings or operational improvements.
- Assess and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supply chain disruptions, geopolitical factors, and supplier financial stability.
- Implement contingency plans to minimize risks in critical supply areas.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and support to the team, ensuring best-in-class procurement practices are followed.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in global procurement, specifically within Capital Equipment, Construction, and Engineering Services.
- Professional procurement certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is preferred.
- Proven track record in managing complex supplier relationships and negotiating high-value contracts.
- Experience with global supply chains, logistics, and supplier management.
- Strong knowledge of procurement strategies, supply chain management, and global sourcing methodologies.
- Proficient in data analysis and procurement software (e.g., SAP).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment, managing multiple cross-functional stakeholders.
- Travel as needed to supplier and project sites.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strong project management and execution skills.
