Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) V to oversee a team of direct support professionals (DSPs). This individual will be responsible for managing, mentoring, and providing leadership to DSPs who assist individuals with disabilities and behavioral disorders. The DSP V will ensure that all team members adhere to high standards of care, compliance, and individual empowerment, while fostering an environment of respect, collaboration, and person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Manage and supervise a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to ensure the highest quality of care and support for individuals with disabilities.
- Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and performance evaluations to DSPs.
- Schedule and assign shifts, ensuring adequate staffing levels and appropriate coverage.
- Handle recruitment, onboarding, and training of new DSPs.
- Handle and be responsible for client funds for outings.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure DSPs are adhering to regulatory requirements, company policies, and best practices in delivering support to individuals.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals served.
- Develop and implement strategies for improving quality of care and DSP performance.

Individualized Care & Advocacy:
- Collaborate Interdisciplinary Teams (IDTs) to develop and implement individualized support plans tailored to each individuals needs, preferences, and goals.
- Advocate for individuals served, ensuring they have access to necessary resources, services, and opportunities.
- Support DSPs in promoting independence and dignity for individuals served, assisting them in achieving personal goals.

Communication & Collaboration:
- Maintain open and effective communication with families, guardians, and other stakeholders involved in the individuals' care.
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and training sessions to ensure that all DSPs are aligned with best practices and organizational goals.
- Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise within the team or with individuals served.

Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of staff performance, attendance, and training.
- Prepare reports on DSP team performance, compliance audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed in residential settings which may include exposure to varied environmental conditions.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Additional Work Hours: This position may require overtime based on client needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The candidate should be flexible and willing to adjust their schedule as needed to ensure client and regulatory success.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Healthcare) preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience working in direct support roles with individuals with disabilities, including 1 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial position.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities, behavioral or mental health disorders, person-centered care, and relevant regulatory standards.

Skills:
- Strong leadership and management abilities with experience in team development and staff training.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals served, their families, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to problem-solve, manage conflict, and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic office software.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).
- Professional Crisis Management certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, lift, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move intermittently. Use hands to handle or feel. Ability to turn on the knees, back, wrist, shoulders, and grasp with both hands. Must be able to frequently lift/move up to 50lbs. and occasionally lift and move more than 50lbs.
