RESPOND, Inc. is seeking a Teacher Assistant. This position assists the EHS Teacher with the daily operations of planning, carrying out classroom activities and maintaining the classroom environment. This is a full time, non-exempt, hourly position, with an 8 hours shift, and 1 hour unpaid lunch.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Treats colleagues, students, and families as individuals with dignity and respect
- Promotes and provides culturally competent client care and staff interactions that respond respectfully to the strengths and skills of diverse ethnicity, cultures and other diversity related factors
- Role models and assists students in completing assignments and staying on assigned task
- Helps copy necessary worksheets for instruction, prepares bulletin boards, performs clerical and non-instructional assignments as assigned, help keep the classroom clean and organized and assists teacher with home visits and conferences
- Attends all required staff meetings and activities, reviews progress in professional development and growth objectives with supervisor and Teacher and discusses any issues with designated appropriate staff
- Responsible for understanding Respond's Early Learning's Performance Standards and local regulations
- Reports any suspected child abuse and neglect per New Jersey's guidelines
- Conducts self as a role model when interacting with staff, colleagues and funding sources in accordance with Respond's Code of Ethics.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or higher; Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- One (1) year experience working in a classroom setting
- Maintains First Aid and CPR certifications
Compensation:
- Hourly rate is $15.49 to $17.13 an hour commensurate with experience

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout the classroom.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
