Key Responsibilities
- Monitors and improves quality of the existing Firehouse Subs products and suppliers, through in-person facility audits, specification compliance, complaint programs and other RBI Quality Assurance systems.
- Certifies facilities and endorses new products from existing and new suppliers to ensure Firehouse Subs new products are produced up to our standards. Provides in-plant support for new product launches and advises Product Innovation and Supply Chain teams. Accountable for success of product commercialization and supporting the introduction of new products during rollouts.
- Monitors supplier performance through standardized testing and product evaluation reports, creates ad hoc reports to characterize supplier and product performance and creates culture of continuous improvement within supplier base. Screens, investigates, and follows up product complaints, and ensures suppliers corrective actions to mitigate non conformances.
- Participates in multidisciplinary projects and teams to maintain and enhance food safety, quality consistency, profitability, and other related matters with respect to Firehouse Subs’ business functions (Product Innovation & Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain) and Franchisees, representing the QA function internally and externally as QA Subject Matter Expert.
- Verifies the nutrition information of new products and calculates nutrition information for new menu items to maintain an accurate database of nutrition information for our guests
- Acts as QA technical expert in crisis situations by executing investigations and providing advice to the Crisis Management Team on supply issues and actions with safety implications and perceptions.
- Participates in on-going enhancement of RBI QA processes, standards, and continuous improvement programs, especially of the RBI Supplier Quality Scorecard.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Technical Sciences or related fields
- 3 years of QA work experience, preferably in Food Service /QSR supply environment
- Quality Assurance experience in production environment
- HACCP Certified. Knowledge of Product Safety principles to monitor supplier food safety/good manufacturing practices
- Understanding of product quality and sensory attributes and relevant laboratory testing procedures and processes to monitor supplier performance standards
- Ability to travel up to 50% to visit suppliers.
- The position requires permanent residence in Jacksonville, FL Metro area
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with aptitude to interpret technical data to make sound product performance decisions
- Effective communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent project management skills. Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
