Your work will involve analyzing costs, investigating variances, and ensuring accurate reporting. From setting cost standards to preparing margin analyses and forecasts, your contributions will enhance efficiency and guide strategic decisions.
In this role, you'll oversee and analyze all cost expenditures related to the manufacturing processes in the facility, produce detailed cost reports and analyses in support of our operations and sales. Working closely with our supply chain team, you’ll assist in ensuring accurate and timely inventory transactions in the general ledger.
In addition the position is responsible for developing and maintaining the financial cost reports necessary to fully explain standard and gross margin analyses and the variances to planned results.
All manufacturing cost aspects including material, labor and overhead, price-volume-mix analyses as well as efficiency, productivity and spend variances will be monitored and explained. This information will support weekly financial flashes, monthly results, quarterly forecasts and annual budget. This position collaborates with and supports the operations, sales / marketing and finance teams with insightful analyses and suggestions for improvements.
Job Duties :
- Collecting and analyzing data about the company’s manufacturing costs
- Developing and analyzing standard costs
- Coordinates with Manufacturing team to determine proper labor and overhead rates for establishment of budgeted standard costs
- Coordinates with Purchasing team to review purchase costs, purchase price variances, and periodic updates to material cost standards
- Reviews daily manufacturing account postings, investigating significant variances related to work order closure
- Reviews cost, inventory, and variance trends; researching significant variations and recommending appropriate response
- Prepares daily operating performance analysis; including inventory movements, sales, and cost of goods sold, to identify significant issues in a timely fashion
- Reviews new BOMs and Routers submitted for accuracy
- Coordinates with Engineering Department to understand changes in inventory valuation outside of the semi-annual cost roll
- Evaluates monthly COGS and Variances, provides monthly variance analysis
- Performs annual cost roll and inventory revaluation. Works with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components.
- Works with Pricing team to set intercompany transfer pricing, ensuring margins in line with Company Policy and international tax law.
- Coordinate inventory related activities with management and Inventory Control, including analysis, reporting, cycle count activities (such as blind counts); inventory adjustment needs; and help ensure overall inventory accuracy
Education / Experience :
Typical requirements of this role include a Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of cost accounting experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. The ideal candidate will have an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and experience managing cost in an ERP system.
