Digital Design Technician
Job Summary
The primary function role of the Digital Design Technician is to assist the design engineers with all aspects of the design process. As a Digital Design Technician, you will work on various stages of production patient specific cases including planning, design, and quality documentation.
Duties and responsibilities
- Principal responsibilities for the position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Design 3D models of orthopedic implants and instrumentation based on engineer/surgeon-provided design inputs
- Generate initial surgical plans via placement of implants and or guides within 3D reconstruction of patient following specified design operating procedures
- Manage case workload assigned by senior team members
- Comply with documented quality system design procedures
- Assist in quality documentation including generation of engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and other required forms
Qualifications and experience
- Experience working with medical imaging (MRI/CT Scans)
- Experience with image segmentation using Mimics
- Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., Solidworks)
- Mesh-based modeler a plus (e.g., Meshmixer)
- Experience with design for manufacturing principles for additive manufacturing
- Medical anatomy and terminology
- Experience working within a quality management system strongly preferred
Education:
- Associate’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, or related field (relevant job experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree with high school diploma or GED)
