Position: Clean-Up Crew Member
Reports to: Sawmill Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Overview: The Clean-Up Crew Member is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient work environment by performing general cleaning and housekeeping duties within the sawmill. This role involves general clean-up, waste removal, and capable of working independently in a physically demanding environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and removing debris from the sawmill floor and surrounding areas.
- Collect and dispose of sawdust, wood chips, and other waste materials, ensuring that waste disposal areas are kept organized and clean.
- Clean and maintain sawmill equipment, including conveyors, machines, and other machinery to prevent accumulation of sawdust and debris that could affect performance or safety.
- Ensure all cleaning practices comply with health and safety regulations, including proper handling of chemicals, waste disposal, and maintaining clear walkways.
- Assist maintenance staff with basic tasks, such as clearing areas around machinery to allow for repairs and inspections.
- Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure cleanliness is always maintained throughout the facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in industrial cleaning or janitorial work is preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and safety protocols.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy, and dusty environment.
- Willingness to follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gear.
This is a Thursday-Monday position from 5 am - 3:30 pm
