Position : Debarker Operator
Reports to : Sawmill Supervisor
FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Position Overview : The Debarker Operator will be responsible for efficiently operating debarking machinery to remove bark from logs. This position is essential to our production process and directly supports our mission of promoting ecological restoration through responsible forest management.
Responsibilities :
- Operate debarking machinery to remove bark from logs while ensuring precision and efficiency.
- Inspect logs pre- and post- debarking to verify quality and identify any defects or irregularities.
- Perform routine maintenance on debarking equipment including cleaning and minor repairs, to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
- Monitor machinery operation, adjusting settings as needed to accommodate different log sizes and types.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate workflow, address operational issues, and ensure timely processing of logs.
- Maintain accurate records of debarking activities, including log sizes, quantities, and any operational issues encountered.
- Report any significant mechanical issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team for prompt resolution.
- Adhere to environmental and sustainability practices in line with the company’s commitment to forest restoration.
