What are the responsibilities and job description for the Juvenile Intake Officer position at Restorative Justice Authority?
Job Summary
Position entails shift work with on-call availability to accommodate the juvenile intake and assessment needs for youth who are children in need of care or juvenile offenders. Responsibilities include administering assessments, making placement recommendations, writing and entering an intake report, arranging transportation, making recommendations for community-based services/referrals and providing crisis counseling to youth and their families.
Skills
- *Excellent interpersonal, oral, record keeping and written communication skills
- *Considerable knowledge and understanding of the juvenile justice system, JIAS and Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) standards
- *The ability to express or exchange ideas by means of written/verbal communication
- *Knowledge to use computers and their applications
- *The ability to convey and receive detailed information or important instructions to and from the general public
- *Problem Solving: Extensive problem solving exists in this position.
Qualifications
- *Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
- *Be qualified for access to any Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) data
- *Submit to and pass a Kansas Bureau of Investigations background check, Kansas Child Abuse Registry and Kansas Adult Abuse checks prior to employment, annually for the duration of employment and whenever there is reasonable belief that an employee’s criminal history status has changed
- *Must be fingerprinted within the first thirty (30) days of employment
- *Submit a valid driver’s license that shall be verified prior to initial employment, annually for the duration of employment and whenever there is reasonable belief that an employee’s driver’s license status has changed
- *Must submit and pass urinalysis testing
- *Complete any required urinalysis, screenings or tests mandated by Crawford County or KDOC.
- *Be free of any felony conviction or adjudication in this or any other state or in any military tribunal
