Diversity & Inclusion: The Foundation to Making Freedom Real
Restore's mission is to make freedom real for survivors of trafficking in the United States. To do that, we desire a staff team that is more representative of the survivors we serve — almost all of whom are Black, Latina, and/or immigrants. Applicants from these underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply. We especially welcome applicants who have lived experience of trafficking or labor exploitation.
About The Position
The Counselor Advocate reports directly to the Supervising Counselor Advocate. The Counselor Advocate will provide holistic case management and clinical counseling to survivors of human trafficking and be part of a team committed to the restoration of each survivor. The ideal candidate for this role has training and experience in providing trauma-informed care and working with individuals with trauma. The candidate can also complete administrative tasks related to daily work promptly and professionally. This position requires the candidate to be fluent in Spanish.
This role includes administering therapy and balancing both case management and clinical counseling responsibilities to a separate caseload of clients. The candidate will have the opportunity to accrue psychotherapy hours under a licensed clinical supervisor, gain experience in trauma therapy, and participate in training on evidence-based trauma therapy modalities. Supervision hours are built in and count toward licensure. Clients receiving case management and clinical therapy services will be distinct, ensuring role clarity and ethical boundaries.
The Client Services team is the cornerstone of Restore’s direct service efforts and includes program managers and other Counselor Advocates under the direction of the Director of Client Services. The team works primarily with adult clients of all genders who have experienced sex or labor trafficking, with a specialization in working with woman-identifying survivors. Many clients experience PTSD or C-PTSD, substance use disorders, adjustment challenges, and other impacts of trauma, which are approached with non-pathologizing language and practices.
This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of at least 35 hours per week. The shifts are generally Monday through Friday, 9-5 (lunch hour included), but they may vary to accommodate organization and client scheduling.
Specific Responsibilities
The salary range is $65-70,000. Restore provides a comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k) matching, HSA/FSA, 15 vacation days, four spiritual retreat days, unlimited sick days, parental leave, a flex-time policy, major medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance, and commuter benefits.
Job Location
This job is based in New York City and is an on-site position, requiring a minimum of 2 days in our Midtown office
Equal Opportunity Employer
Restore provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
