About the Position
Reporting to the Manager of Economic Empowerment, the Economic Empowerment Advocate supports and assists the Economic Empowerment Program. Specifically, the Economic Empowerment Advocate helps the Economic Empowerment Specialist facilitate classes and provide emotional support to survivors of trafficking. The Economic Empowerment Advocate also assists with administrative responsibilities including but not limited to documentation, reporting, and client communication. The Economic Empowerment Advocate maintains a relationship with clients that fosters trust and understanding through client communication and follow up. The ideal candidate has strong administrative and communication skills, and experience working with survivors or individuals who have experienced trauma.
Specific Responsibilities
- Provide peer support and outreach to clients by responding to concerns and questions about their participation in services.
- Execute reminder, follow-up, and basic motivational coaching calls to maximize the number of clients that complete services.
- Document all interactions and meetings with clients in Apricot.
- During in-person classes, assist the Economic Empowerment Specialist with classroom set up and clean up, preparing participant materials and teaching equipment before class start time.
- Assist with the recording and translating job readiness lessons and orientation sessions into Spanish, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for Spanish-speaking clients.
- Participate in quarterly staff training and meetings, as needed.
- Assist with completing Economic Empowerment client intakes and impact assessments.
- Other relevant duties as required for program execution.
Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Strong communication, teamwork, and relational skills.
- Intermediate computer & technology skills (Zoom, Google Doc, Gmail, Slack, etc.).
- Keen self and social awareness, well-developed self and relationship management skills.
- Deep commitment to the healing and well-being of survivors of sex trafficking, knowledge and or experience working in a trauma-informed environment.
- Flexible in the face of an ever-changing work environment, enjoys learning new skills and receiving feedback to improve their ability to serve clients.
- Skilled in problem solving; able to identify barriers, explore creative solutions, and connect survivors with appropriate resources and opportunities.
- Exceptionally dependable, and able to work well with a diverse team.
Compensation
- Compensation is up to $24 per hour commensurate with experience.
- This is a part-time position, requiring up to 15 hours a week.
Job Location
This job is based in New York City and is a hybrid position, requiring 2 days per week in office (Wednesday & Friday mornings).
