Summary
This position will partner with Dr. Shapiro, one of our Total Joint surgeons assisting one to two days per week Total Joint surgeries as well as a mix of clinic and inpatient coverage at Littleton Hospital covering Orthopedic Trauma Patients. Patients will be seen at of our Highlands Ranch location and surgeries are performed at OrthoColorado Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado, South Denver Surgery Center and Littleton Hospital, in Littleton, Colorado. The right person for this role will be a true partner with the physician and will be open and willing to learn techniques, styles, and preferences that help the physician team.
The position will be responsible for providing care within the clinical, surgical and hospital setting for Dr. Shapiro's Total Joint patients as well as the inpatient Orthopedic patients at Littleton Hospital. This role will be Monday through Friday, a mix of clinic, hospitalist and surgery in a busy elective total joint surgical practice and occasional call coverage will be required for nights and weekends (a nominal stipend is offered).
Essential Functions
- Perform comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams.
- Conducts patient rounds on admitted patients in the post-operative phase.
- Evaluates changes in patient conditions.
- Issues orders for medications, treatments, and lab tests.
- Provides surgical first assistant coverage in the operating room for Dr. Shapiro
- Writes discharge summaries, H&Ps, fills out consents, prescriptions all within a timely manner.
- Documents all patient care actions in the EMR promptly after patient visits and with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent suturing skills are necessary.
- Providing inpatient rounding and consult coverage at Littleton Hospital
