Resurrection has an opening for a Special Needs Care Associate in our Resurrection Adult Learning Program! The position is part-time, non-exempt and is located at the Overland Park campus at 8412 W. 95th Street. Please see below for a full job description.
Job Summary
The Resurrection Adult Learning Program Special Needs Care Associate position is responsible for the direct care of adult participants with autism (learners). They provide hands-on care, supervision, and support for learners while working alongside the Resurrection Adult Learning Program Director, co-workers and volunteers. This position supports the missional and life skills activities offered through this program including devotion, daily learning, exercise, and other activities.

Position-Specific
- Actively engage and interact with day program learners at an appropriate level with dignity and respect.
- Foster an environment that is conducive to the needs and care for day program learners.
- Determine needs of learners and act/adjust accordingly to align with current best practices.
- Ensure safety of day program learners.
- Provide hands-on assistance for day program learners and volunteers in all aspects of the day program, including Christian devotion, recreation, missionary and other enrichment activities.
- Maintain professional and positive relationships and interactions with families, volunteers, and co-workers.
- Attend any staff meetings or training sessions, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Prior experience working with special needs is preferred.
- Knowledge of autism levels 2 and 3 or education in a related field (e.g., special education, behavior analysis, Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Speech Language Pathology (SLP), nursing) is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with day program learners, co-workers, and volunteers.
- Physical requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and moving around with learners which may including being on the floor.
