What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Teacher position at Resurrection Lutheran Preschool?
Resurrection Lutheran Preschool (formerly Precious Lambs) is a Christian preschool serving children ages 33 months to 5 years. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Teacher to join our team year round. The position works 15 to 25 hours Monday thru Friday, from 1:00-5:15 pm or 3-5:15 pm depending on the day, and occasionally has evening hours scheduled for family engagement events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the Christian Faith to support the Christian teachings of the school and be willing to continue learning upon hire. This individual will also exhibit their faith in how they live their life to set a Christian example for the children and families. The individual in this role will support the classroom teacher in facilitating developmental activities in a safe environment, managing student behavior, and maintaining the classroom.
Resurrection Lutheran Preschool not only prepares children for a life of learning, we also provide the building blocks to life long service in Christ. The program includes daily Bible learning, is centered on learning through play, hands-on experiences, and open-ended activities to facilitate the best growth and development for the preschool age. Along with providing love and care for children, support to the classroom teacher, and facilitating typical developmental aspects of a preschool environment, the individual chosen for this position will have opportunities to support our little ones in learning of Jesus’ love and helping to build their faith.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in implementing activities
- Have open communication with the Lead Teacher, Director, and all other staff.
- Relate creatively and individually to children in program areas.
- Respond promptly to the physical and emotional needs of the children and assist with classroom and behavior management
- Assist in maintaining a safe, attractive, and interesting environment for learning.
- Demonstrate and teach proper respect for individuals and proper care of equipment and materials.
- Utilize opportunities for professional growth such as attendance at workshops, conferences, or classes related to early childhood development.
- Participate in staff meetings and meetings with the Director and Lead Teacher.
- Attend family engagement events as management requests.
- Be an advocate for Resurrection Lutheran Preschool in the community.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or older
- Pass a Minnesota Background Study
- Meet Department of Human Services (Rule 3) requirements for Assistant Teacher.
- A strong understanding of child development
- Experience with groups of preschool children is required.
- Ability to effectively manage student behaviors
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
