We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, customer focused, Yard Attendant/Material Handler to join our team at our Gorham, Maine location. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, (a good driver record is helpful but not necessary) and a customer-focused attitude.

This role provides prompt, courteous service to customers in the yard by assisting in the selection and loading of materials. This role also builds and stages deliveries at the direction of the Yard Manager or Store Manager. This position will require cooperation with all supervisory staff, other delivery drivers, and store personnel. This position reports to the Yard Manager. We are hiring for our Gorham, Maine location. Hourly pay based on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Follow all company policies and safety standards.
• Assist pick-up customers in the yard in a prompt, professional manner.
• Pick quality merchandise for delivery customers and build delivery loads.
• Perform vehicle safety inspections.
• Load or inspects loads to ensure no unsafe vehicle leaves the yard.
• Checks load for picking accuracy and corrects errors as needed.
• Unloads product to customer expectation by following written directions and instructions and by verbal communication on the job site if delivering.
• Contribute efforts to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work space.
• Reports damage to equipment, inventory, or property to immediate supervisor the day it occurs.
• Perform tasks deemed necessary by supervisory staff.

Requirements:

Ability to read, understand, and act upon written language.
Ability to perform basic math; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to repeatedly lift objects up to 50 lbs with or without accommodations.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and twist repeatedly throughout the workday with or without accommodations.

Working Conditions:
This position is performed in an open warehouse and out in the elements. The Yard Attendant/Material Handler will be subjected to high heat, rain, snow, and cold.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.50 - $22.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
