Convenience Store Area Manager
Retail Management Inc is looking for an Area Manager based in the Boise area for our locations in Washington, California and Idaho.
Multi-site supervision experience is a must, with a minimum of 3 years experience.
This position will require site visits that will include minimal overnight travel to other state locations monthly.
RMI is a retail management company that operates retail locations such as convenience stores (with and without fuel), vape shops, liquor stores, restaurants and bars.
This position is critical to our success, as the candidate will work to provide legendary customer service while helping the Store Manager in training and developing a staff to execute RMI programs. This job creates a positive experience for our customers by providing them with prompt service, quality food and beverage products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable site environment.

Purpose: Leads through training and development of the teams under their supervision, to execute RMI programs, policies, and procedures as well as any requirements, standards, or procedures of branded sites. To oversee operations and marketing of stores assigned as profitably as possible, within established parameters of ethical conduct and genuine concern for the needs of the company, the clients, its customers, and employees.
Responsibilities:
- To successfully deliver services to our clients, an Area Manager must be:
- familiar with and maintain exceptional company standards.
- fully conversant with profit and loss statements and associated reports and methods of achieving maximum profitability.
- understanding of requirements and execution on all merchandising and marketing programs & standards.
- deliver consistent and accurate client reporting.
- maintain trained and capable store staff as determined by client requirements and RMI standards.
- To maximize sales and gross profit dollars through executing marketing programs and processes. Paying diligent attention to store conditions (including physical condition of both the exterior and interior of the store and the forecourt, merchandising, etc.) and a constant awareness and communication of competitors’ strategies and marketing.
- To minimize expenses with due regard to the long-term interests of the client and company. Utilizing RMI processes and systems and working with internal team members and store persons, develop and communicate business plans for the stores assigned and work with the client to come to a mutual agreement of execution strategies.
- Area Manager specific responsibilities in this area include but are not limited to:
- Labor allocation and staffing determinations
- Repairs and maintenance of the property, facility, and equipment
- Preventative maintenance programs
- Cash and inventory controls
- To act as the main point of contact between the support team and the stores assigned to provide honest, timely and accurate information.
- To act as the main point of contact between RMI and our clients/owners.
Methods & Tactics:
To perform to our highest standards and expectations for our clients and company, Area Managers should utilize their strengths and the strengths of the team to accomplish desired results. This includes:
- Visit stores assigned routinely and as may be agreed to in a Client Agreement. Periodic and unannounced visits should be conducted in a spirit of cooperation and development with the store team as an aid in helping them achieve efficiency and effectiveness in execution of programs and standards.
- Development of staff is crucial to the success of the company and will be given great weight in any assessment of the Area Manager’s performance.
- Utilizing the internal teams available in the organization for their assistance and advice on issues pertaining to their own areas of expertise.
- Insist and encourage that direct reports bring problems and potential problems to their attention in order to facilitate a timely solution.
- Understanding that the Area Manager’s primary role is to assist sites assigned in their efforts to achieve desired results. Teaching, training, coaching, and counseling team members will lead to long-term growth for employees and Clients alike. The Area Manager must be willing to perform tasks normally assigned to store employees if such efforts are treated as a training exercise for those subordinates or, if extraordinary circumstances dictate that assistance.
- Creating an atmosphere of cooperation and openness must be high on the Area Manager’s list of priorities. Full and free communication is one hallmark of a successful area. Regularly scheduled meetings should be held with all levels of store personnel. Input from employees should be actively solicited and their ideas promoted to others.
- The Area Manager is expected to make intelligent decisions based on facts that have been vigorously sought out and carefully considered. The livelihoods of all connected with the company will be affected by those decisions.

Essential Requirements
- High-School diploma or equivalent,
- Ability to communicate effectively through speech and writing,
- Ability and willingness to work unusual and long hours,
- Valid driver’s license & insurance coverages in the U.S. and as may be required,
- Achieve and maintain any required certifications as required by local, state, or federal regulating authorities,
Other competencies/profile/experience:
- Self-starter who can lead others with enthusiasm.
- Good decision-making, coaching and team-building skills.
- Strong ability to utilize technology and software to effectively communicate and to train & maintain performance standards & expectations
- Previous retail multi-unit leadership experience is desired.
