Summary
RTG is seeking an IT Installation Technician (POINT-OF-SALE) with computer and data cabling experience to be based in St. Louis, Missouri and cover the Midwest. Candidates should be self-sufficient and possess technical and mechanical skills to support multi-day hardware installations, low voltage cabling, network troubleshooting/installation and various upgrade projects. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.
Knowledge of low voltage cabling and computer networks is a must. Previous restaurant experience with Point of Sale equipment a plus.
Description:
This position requires flexible work hours with extensive travel within 6 hour radius of the assigned area. Company provided vehicle; candidate must possess valid driver's license and maintain a clean motor vehicle record. Candidates will also be responsible for maintaining Van inventory of installation related parts/supplies. This is a Full-Time, Salaried position with paid overtime available.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Review and complete work orders for new installations of IT Equipment and cabling as well as upgrade projects in retail and restaurant environments to include network cabling, Point of Sale equipment, audio, camera & security systems, drive timers, network racks, routers, switches and wireless access Points.
- Perform Installations within estimated 6 hour radius of home base to meet RTG quality standards.
- Develop documentation for new concepts and update any existing documentation as needed.
- Coach, Train and Develop new installers as well as 1099 assist techs.
- Maintain work hours with manager/director to be as close to 40 Hour work week as possible.
- Maintain company tools, van and supplies.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and adjust to last minute changes.
- Must respond to communications via text, emails, phone calls, Microsoft Teams chats in a timely manner.
- Install and mount equipment to walls, ceilings, and on counter tops.
- Run, test, tone, terminate, repair and replace cat5e/cat6 voice and data cabling.
- Complete job in allotted time. MUST escalate any delays or issues appropriately.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor when engaging with customers, co-workers, and other vendors.
- Close work orders and provide all deliverables including customer check list or approved sign off.
- Update time tracking as determined by manager/director.
- Update Work Orders Daily and ship return parts weekly
Requirements
- Minimum 2 Years experience Installing IT Equipment.
- Minimum 2 Years experience in the Point of Sale or Construction Industry.
- Minimum 2 Years experience with Low Voltage cabling and terminations.
- Must possess a valid drivers’ license with good driving record.
- Ability to operate basic power tools,
- Must complete and pass monthly RTG Field & Safety Training
- Detail oriented with a sense of urgency and commitment to results.
- Ability to work independently, multi-tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs. or more
- Capable of climbing and working on a 12-foot ladder or scissor lift
- Capable of Reaching and working above head and kneeling, bending, laying under cabinets/tables
- Maintain residence within 45 Minutes of designated home base area
- Must Pass Pre-employment RTG Approved Physical and drug screening and on annual basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of networking hardware and topologies
- Knowledge of computing systems hardware with the ability setup, install and connect peripherals to get system online and operational.
- Physical installation of a wide variety of hardware including routers, switches, WAPs, servers, POS systems, digital signage systems, and associated peripheral equipment.
- Familiarity with cabling standards and the ability pull, terminate, troubleshoot and repair cabling in a variety of customer environments.
- Ability to operate cordless drills to mount devices into Brick, Stucco, Tile, and Drywall
- Certifications: A , Net are a plus but not necessary
Required Travel: Road Warrior
- Estimated 80 to 90% travel
- Expected to drive to work within 6 hour radius from home base.
- Multi day work more than 2 hours from home base may result in hotel stay
- Work outside of 6 hour radius may require air travel with hotel and rental car.
Schedule:
- Scheduled work to fall between Sunday evening through Friday morning.
- Rare weekend work may be required.
- New installations are typically scheduled during the day (6am – 6pm)
- Various project work is scheduled after hours (9pm – 7am).
