This listing is for a position within the Policy, Education, and Outreach (PEO) team. The Continuing Education Manager will lead in the development of Deconstruction Academy, a program funded with a multi-year grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. Deconstruction Academy is a new continuing education program to advance sustainability and material reuse through a comprehensive curriculum. In addition, this position will grow our continuing education program for real estate professionals, enhancing its impact and relevance. This role offers an exciting opportunity to expand educational offerings, engage new audiences, and further the organization's mission of sustainability and historic preservation. This position is based in Saint Paul and reports to the Director of PEO.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead the creation of the Deconstruction Academy in partnership with the Program Coordinator, ensuring the curriculum meets grant requirements and industry standards.
- Manage Realtor Continuing Education, including Old Home Certified courses, coordinating logistics, updating curricula, and engaging instructors to maintain its relevance and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with the Minnesota Departments of Commerce and Labor & Industry for all continuing education certifications.
- Ability and willingness to travel out of state to work with deconstruction professionals and videographers to create course content and to film class video content onsite.

Rethos' Continuing Education Programs
Rethos offers an array of continuing education opportunities tailored to real estate professionals, contractors, and other industry stakeholders. These programs emphasize the intersection of sustainability, historic preservation, and practical knowledge, helping professionals better serve their clients and communities.
Rethos' continuing education program provides accredited courses that connect industry professionals with sustainable practices and preservation expertise. A key component is the Old Home Certified (OHC) course, an annual offering for real estate professionals that provides 12 hours of continuing education credits approved by the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Additionally, Rethos seeks to grow its continuing education program by developing new courses for real estate appraisers, general contractors, and building officials.
As part of the Deconstruction Certification Grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Rethos is developing and implementing 16 new courses focused on sustainable deconstruction practices. These courses, presented as Deconstruction Academy, are designed to educate contractors, developers, policymakers, and other industry professionals on key deconstruction competencies. Topics include material salvage techniques, site evaluation, safety protocols, and environmental benefits. The curriculum also covers strategies for fostering a circular economy, such as marketing salvaged materials, leveraging tax incentives, and navigating policy frameworks. These courses will provide critical knowledge to advance the deconstruction industry, reduce construction waste, and promote material reuse statewide.
