Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary eye exams, including measuring visual acuity and assessing ocular health.
- Assist with diagnostic tests such as tonometry, visual field testing, and fundus photography.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic health record systems.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and answering questions.
- Administer basic treatments as directed by the ophthalmologist while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an ophthalmology setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and common ocular conditions.
- Familiarity with medical billing processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly Epic.
- Ability to take vital signs and perform basic clinical assessments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and equipment.
