Position Summary:
As the Medical Receptionist | Surgical Coordinator, you will be a key player in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facility. Your primary role involves coordinating the business office functions in collaboration with clinical staff, which includes nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Your responsibilities encompass maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient eligibility and insurance benefits.
- Submit and manage pre-authorizations for treatment.
- Oversee the efficient flow of patients within the clinic, ensuring minimal wait times.
- Collect copays and outstanding balances from patients, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Professionally answer and route phone calls, schedule appointments, and take messages as needed.
- Document patient requests and essential information in the EMR system for timely responses to patient needs.
- Maintain a strong understanding of clinic protocols and physician schedules, providing accurate information to patients.
- Coordinate and manage paperwork processes and data routing as required.
- Engage with patients, physicians, and external staff, offering timely and accurate information both within the clinic and at external facilities.
- Identify scheduling challenges and implement solutions to improve scheduling outcomes according to predetermined goals.
- Manage surgical documentation, gather and input patient information, input surgical orders, and update post-surgery records.
- Provide patients with pre-operative instructions.
- Coordinate and schedule surgeries and follow-up appointments as directed by physicians.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Patience and listening skills to respond appropriately and interact positively with patients, guests, vendors, and colleagues.
