Our ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience as a medical technician or laboratory technician, and well-developed organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. MLT license is preferred but not required; however, you must have knowledge of lab and medical equipment, medical information systems, laboratory best practices, and medical terminology. Responsibilities :
- Help record test results in the laboratory information system
- Distribute the collection of test samples of blood, tissue and body fluids
- Assist medical technologists and prepare specimens for testing for patient diagnosis
- Manage and maintain diagnostic equipment and laboratory instruments such as centrifuges and chemistry analyzers
- Ensure safety standards and universal precautions are met, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
- Triage patients and record consistent and accurate documentation of patient’s medical history
- Performing prescreening exams
- Checking vision and identifying chief complaints
- Tonometry & dilation
- Administering medications to patients in the clinic and providing patient education
- Will be required to get detailed health information from patients and document health histories
- Various diagnostic tests (Fundus photos, OCT, Visual Fields), and may also include some advanced diagnostic testing
- Assist with maintaining an efficient clinic experience
- Assisting physicians with ophthalmic procedures
- Maintaining medical / surgical supplies
- Utilize EHR with all HIPAA standards
- Prepare examination room and patient's medical record
- Understanding of basic healthcare terminology
- Driving a company-provided vehicle that may hold employees and office equipment
- Managing incoming phone calls and documenting communications within patient platforms such as NexTech, Pressia On-Call, or other relevant sources
