Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lead Ophthalmic Technician to join the team at Retina Group of Florida! The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care within an ophthalmology setting. This position involves assisting ophthalmologists with various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow, and maintaining a positive patient experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

The lead technician oversees the everyday clinical office functions in addition to preparing patients for treatment and assists physician in performance of patient exam. The role of the Lead Technician is to provide general support to the physicians in the clinic.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports physicians with:
  • Patient work ups Diagnostic testing Injection preparation
  • Medical record documentation Surgical scheduling
  • Patient flow
  • Patient follow up calls Patient e-prescriptions Inventory Management
  • Supports general office and insurance functions with: Enrolling patients in copay assistance programs Booking appointments
  • Answering phones
  • Following insurance protocol Following coding protocol
  • Restocking and cleaning clinical areas
  • Supports clinical office additionally with:
  • Assisting with the management of patient flow with-in the office Assisting Monitoring buy and bill vs. supplied drug
  • Maintaining appropriate supply par levels and places orders timely Managing drug inventory and ordering
  • Completing regular chart audits
  • Verifying that copay assistance benefits & authorizations are current Documents employee counseling and recognition
  • Adheres to OSHA, HIPAA and security protocols
  • Support RGF’s Misstion statement Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • 2-year recent experience preferred COA or COT certification is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff
  • Ability to exhibit patience, compassion and excellent customer service skills Flexibility with hours and local area travel
  • Ability to work in multiple software programs/applications Ability to prioritize tasks properly
  • Ability to work in a high pace team environment and or independently Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Must have attention to detail and accuracy.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

Prolonged periods standing, walking and sitting Occasionally lifts up to 15 pounds

This position has regular verbal and written contact with administrative and medical personnel. The nature of these communications range from a routine exchange of information to a process of securing information and/or responding to inquiries where explanation and discussion may be required using judgment.

EQUIPMENT, MACHINES, TOOLS USED:

Computer, computer software, scanner, printer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, OCT, Visual Acuity, Slit Lamp equipment. May use other equipment as required for the position.
